Diwali in Ayodhya - 2022

PM Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath take pleasure in Diwali fireworks in Ayodhya together with other residents. Event included an excellent laser show, fireworks  and a record was set by illumination of 1.8 million earthen lamps (diyas), beating the city's previous world record of 1.2 million diyas lit throughout Diwali 2021.

It is said that Diwali is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after he defeated Ravana in war. Diwali is also celebrated to mark the beginning of the new year in the Hindu calendar. The day is also significant because on this day, Lord Rama abducted Sita from Ravana's kingdom.

Diwali is thus a very special occasion for the people of Ayodhya. On this day, they remember the heroic deeds of Lord Rama and immerse themselves in the divine atmosphere of the city.
